Access Statement

Introduction

We provide tailor-made walking holidays with B&B and hold Walkers and Cyclists Welcome awards and a Silver Green Tourism award. Whilst we endeavour to provide accessible accommodation, our emphasis is on walking holidays so this should be borne in mind when considering staying here if you have limited mobility. All our bedrooms are on the first floor although there is a cloakroom and conservatory on the ground floor which guests are welcome to use.

We do not consider the property to be suitable for full-time wheelchair users.

Pre-Arrival

• We are located half a mile from the A361 on the outskirts of Devizes, on a fairly narrow road with no pavement or street lighting. There is a bus stop at the end of the road, with more choice in the town centre, just over a mile away. Devizes is well-served by taxis.

• Devizes can be reached either via roads or along pleasant public footpaths and is just over 1 mile from here.

• We can provide any information in large print if required. We do not have facilities to prepare documents in braille.

• We are happy to help with any information required with regard to specific needs.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• We have a large drive with plenty of room for guests' vehicles.

• The drive is flat with a tarmac surface.

• There is automatic safety lighting at night.

• We offer assistance with your luggage.

Main Entrance

• Entrance is via a small porchway into a large hall with parquet flooring.

• There is a step of 2.5cm to the front door, then a further 5.5cm step up and 6cm step over the rim of the door surround into the porch where this is repeated into the hall.

Guest Accommodation - Public Areas

• The hall has parquet flooring and the stairs are carpeted.

• The first floor is reached from the hall by 13 steps 20cm high and 75cm wide. There is a handrail on the right but no chair lift.

• There is a cloakroom with toilet and basin on the ground floor.

• The house is centrally heated with the exception of the conservatory where an electric heater is used when needed.

Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

• The conservatory and dining room and access to the garage and gardens are all on the ground floor.

• The conservatory doubles as the breakfast room and is available to guests during the day time. It is reached via the owners' lounge, up a maximum step of 7cm high and 22cm cross over. It is furnished with table and dining chairs and 2 large comfortable sofas and a coffee table and side tables. It has a tiled floor.

• The guest lounge is on the first floor and is carpeted and has a sofa, 2 club chairs, a straight-backed chair and a swivel desk chair, along with a desk & computer for guests’ use.

• Drinks facilities are available in the gallery rather than bedrooms. Facilities include a cordless kettle and small fridge. There is a wide choice of drinks and filtered chilled water is provided.

• There is a balcony off the first floor landing but it is not for general use.

Food

• Guests are provided with breakfast, afternoon cake and optional packed lunches and evening meals.

• We are happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, subject to sufficient  notice and information being given.

Outdoor Facilities

• The hot tub is situated outside the kitchen door and is entered via a set of steps with handrail.

• The garden is mainly lawned with a patio area, vegetable garden and fruit trees with mature trees and shrubs. It is available for guests to enjoy and there is a range of garden furniture, including seat cushions.

• The garden can be accessed from the front door or via the conservatory and kitchen. Both these entail going down a step. Precise measurements can be given if requested.
