Bed & Breakfast

We offer bed & breakfast accommodation throughout the year, with the exception of the Christmas period. This includes accommodation, full breakfast and use of the facilities as described on these pages.

 

Our prices vary slightly, according to which room you choose:

Green Room:  Double occupancy is £78 per night, single occupancy is £50

Coffee Room: Double occupancy is £75 per night, single occupancy is £45

White Room:   Double occupancy is £75 per night, single occupancy is £42

We offer a 10% discount for bookings of 4 or more nights, subject to the booking being made direct and not via an online booking system.

A fee of £5 per person per session is charged for use of the hot tub, to cover additional laundry and electricity costs.

We are unable to accept advance single night on-line bookings for Friday or Saturday nights but this may be possible at short notice during quiet periods - do phone or email to check. If you wish to book for 2 or more nights and we don’t appear to have availability for your chosen dates, it’s worth phoning or emailing to check as sometimes we can move shorter bookings to different rooms.

We ask for a deposit of 1 night’s accommodation per room when booking. We accept debit or credit card payments, cheques and cash. You can also pay online via Pay Pal. You can book online, by phone or by email. To book online or to check availability, please use the box on the right. We are unable to accept same day bookings online so if you have a last-minute request for a room, please phone or email us.

Children are welcome, with the white room being most suitable when parents take the coffee room. The two rooms are opposite each other.

Vacating your room

Some guests are unaware of the differences between a hotel and bed & breakfast in a private house. This is to clarify the terms of your access to Southdown and your bedroom.

Southdown is our home and as such we need some privacy and the freedom to come and go as we please. It is made available for guests on a bed & breakfast basis on the understanding that they vacate their rooms daily between the hours of 10am & 4pm.  We do not feel it is fair on either us or guests to provide access to our home when we may not be at hand.

For insurance purposes, our burglar alarm is set when we are out, so we ask that you do not come in early unless you are sure we are here as the alarm will go off.

In some circumstances we are happy to be more flexible, subject to advance notice.

We reserve the right to make an additional charge of £10 per room per hour should guests not adhere to these conditions.
