When you can’t decide where to walk, we can help with our personal service.
We have a wide range of walking books, maps and maps with directions - many leaving from our front door. And because we are walkers ourselves, you can rely on us to help you choose the right walks for you. If you’re still not sure, you can look at our walking photo albums to help you decide. We also add our most recent walks photos to albums on Facebook so you can get an idea of where to go before your arrival here.
Southdown is on the White Horse Trail, the Wessex Ridgeway and the Mid-Wilts Way, as well as being just 9 miles from the start/finish point of The Ridgeway at Overton Hill near Avebury. See below for some walks ideas.
Guided walks
If you would enjoy learning more about the Wiltshire environment from an expert, you may be interested in going on one or more guided walks. We have teamed up with a local company who offer guided walks in the Avebury and Marlborough area. Wiltshire Walks provide a range of guided walks lasting from a couple of hours to all day, of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty. Numbers of walkers vary between 1 and 7+, with the charges adjusted according to numbers. Walks include Avebury, Savernake Forest, Marlborough Town walks and many more. Also on offer are courses including map-reading & compass skills, and Geo-caching. Click here for more information or call me to discuss your requirements. You can book direct or through me if you prefer.
My husband, sister & brother-in-law took one of Peter’s guided walks in the Savernake Forest and it was a fantastic day out.
See right for a slideshow of the walk. You can read my Trip Advisor review here.
